This afternoon (Sunday) FC Utrecht were put to the test by PSV. The players from Eindhoven were leading the match at halftime 1-2 and hit the net five more times after the break: 1-7.
Halfway the first half when Nicolas Isimit-Mirin fouls his fellow countryman Jean-Christophe Bahebeck and the ball is put on the penalty spot, Zakaria Labyad steps forward. The Utrecht player takes a look, makes a run, scores and cheers on the goal. It is 1-1 and by doing so a goal by Jürgen Locadia – the striker who scored 0-1 after a good fifteen minutes – was levelled. FC Utrecht are in business again, full steam ahead.
More bark, than bite
This afternoon, however, FC Utrecht are more barking than biting: they look dangerous and they regularly are, but there is no question of any bite. PSV, however, emerge as a true pitbull. Decisive when necessary. And goal-oriented, sharply goal-oriented.
Locadia makes the difference
Especially Locadia is in a devil of a temper. The striker even scores a total of four goals in Stadium Galgenwaard. Quite soon after the break (just before the break the PSV player Hirving Lozano – who had been given too much freedom – scores 1-2) the striker manages to score 1-3. FC Utrecht then try to get a goal back, but fail to do so. What is more: the players from Eindhoven score 1-4 halfway the second half: once again via Locadia.
Suffer three more goals
At that point, as the fans in the stands seem to think, the game is over. But the suffering is by far not over yet for the Domstad crowd. Marco van Ginkel (1-5, penalty), Locadia (1-6, penalty and red card for substitute Giovanni Troupée for downing a broken through player) hurt the Utrecht players even more. The final sharp chord is for PSV substitute Steven Bergwijn, who imitates Alberto Tomba by doing a slalom through the defence and leaves David Jensen scratching his head: 1-7.
Next opponent: Vitesse
FC Utrecht are now working towards the away game against Vitesse. The encounter with the Arnhem players starts in GelreDome on 1 October at 14:30. More than 350 tickets for the opponents’ fan zone have already been sold. There are still tickets available via INTERNET and in the FC Utrecht Fanshop.
