FC Utrecht chastise De Graafschap

Big victory in atmospheric ambience in Stadium Galgenwaard: 5-0.

This afternoon (Sunday) FC Utrecht did away with De Graafschap. In an atmospheric ambience in Stadium Galgenwaard the Dom City football players were one size too big for the Super Peasants. After having been chastised in the first fifteen minutes, the difference was made; substitute Nick Venema made sure that the margin was even increased by two: 5-0.

A free kick was allowed, approximately halfway on De Graafschap’s half. It was taken from the right side. Oussane Tannane took place behind the ball. With a heel kick Gyrano Kerk gave the ball that extra push that was needed. The score 3-0 was made and to think it was just the 24th minute. The majority of the fans in Stadium Galgenwaard – except for the 539 visitors from Doetinchem – was already anticipating the celebration of the victory.

Chastised from the start
Kerk’s goal was the third goal within a timeframe of ten minutes. After some fifteen minutes it was Sander van de Streek who took care of the Utrecht opening goal. He read the cross given by Sean Klaiber well and scored a beautiful goal. The ball was sent into the far corner, out of reach for De Graafschap goalkeeper Hidde Jurjus: 1-0. The 2-0 was already scored three minutes later and was very similar to the third goal. The difference was that this time Tannane did not keep the ball low, but sent it high. Exactly there where the ball ended, Willem Jansen popped up. The captain netted the ball with his head. FC Utrecht chastised De Graafschap from the start.

Defending threesome very solid
FC Utrecht seemed satisfied with the margin and De Graafschap were unable to upset the Dom City defence. And yes, there were moments when David Jensen had to be relied on. But the Danish goalkeeper surely did not have a busy afternoon. The FC Utrecht defence threesome with Mark van der Maarel, Willem Janssen and Timo Letschert managed to nip the danger coming from the Achterhoek players in the bud.

Substitute Venema scores number four and five
Just when De Graafschap seemed to be thinking that it would remain 3-0, FC Utrecht moved up the gear. Head coach Dick Advocaat brought on the offensively playing Lukas Görtler, Cyriel Dessers and Nick Venema and that triggered the team, as it turned out.Venema needed just six minutes to score his first goal of the afternoon (4-0) and in the last minute but one the striker from Austerlitz made another contribution. Venema, who had scored another three times with Jong FC Utrecht against Jong Ajax earlier this week, scored his second of the afternoon and his fifth of the week: 5-0.
